"By the year 2015, there will be
9 billion people on the earth. It's hard to conceive of
such a number. But I'm telling you the Lord has prepared
technology that makes it possible for us to begin to bind and
connect all those families together."
Bradley D. Foster
The Mesa FamilySearch Library proudly
presents our 2nd Annual Family History Conference. Please join us and
invite your friends. The theme this year is taken from an address given by Bradley D Foster on March 23, 2013
held at the RootsTech 2013 Family History and Technology
Conference where he predicted that family history centers of
the future will be in the home. He further coined the phrase:
"Genealogy Changes Charts
Family History Changes Hearts"
James L Tanner is the Keynote Speaker for this event.
He will be increasing our knowledge on the topic:
Hidden Treasures of
Genealogical Sleuthing: Kerlin's Well and the Overson
How good are your sleuthing skills?
Kerlin's Well is an obscure historical location where in 1857,
Lieutenant Edward Fitzgerald Beale, an Army officer, was given the
task of constructing a wagon road from Ft. Smith, Arkansas to Los
Angeles, California. This is the story of Henry Martin Tanner who,
with his new wife traveled the Beale Wagon Road to Arizona and
settled along the Little Colorado River.
A surprise discovery was made while scanning photographs from the Overson
Photographic Collection. This collection has seemingly endless
photographs with now over 5,700 images.
Our ancestors appear in a variety of records. We need to make connections with
these records; most of them are not digitized or indexed by
FamilySearch or any commercial entity. Learn about the various records
held by state archives and county offices throughout the United
States that can often help you break down those proverbial brick
walls we all hit in our family history research.
This is followed by a plethora of classes that
have been chosen by popularity and feedback from last year's Conference.
Please use the Registration Link on the left to pre-register,
print class descriptions, handouts, etc. and bring with you to the
Conference. Registration includes contact information, your
attendance at the Conference, the choice of classes you will attend and
whether or not you would like to participate in the box lunch option.
