Ordering Microfilm/Fiche

Microfilm/Fiche is ordered directly from the Family History Library in Salt Lake
by following the steps outlined below:

Cost of Microfilm/Fiche

The initial cost of films is $ 7.50. Each time you renew, it is $ 7.50 and you can renew as often as you like at that rate. When you decide you want an "Extended Loan", there is a charge of $18.75. This applies whether or not you have renewed the microfilm once or multiple times.

NOTE: Due to the increase in the price of raw microfilm stock and the decreasing availability of this product on the market, and higher costs to ship, it has become necessary for FamilySearch to increase the price of film loans. The following prices are for film loans in the United States and Canada:
Short-term film loan - $7.50
Short-term film loan extension - $7.50
Extended film loan - $18.75
(Microfiche loan will remain the same)

Fiche are $ 4.75 for the entire packet of fiche. There are no discounts for fewer fiche. You get the entire packet for that price. As always, microfiche are "extended" and on indefinite loan.

These rates are what the Family History Center in Salt Lake is charging today. They are subject to review and change at any time.

Ordering Microfilm/Microfiche

Films can be ordered from any computer with Internet access (including at home). You will first need to create a FamilySearch account if you don't already have one, and you must also have an E-Mail address. Orders can only be paid for with a Visa, Mastercard, Pre-Paid Credit Card or Pay Pal account. A FamilySearch Center must be identified to receive your film/fiche.

Time Period Microfilm/Microfiche Online Rental

First Time Order:
Each Additional Order:
Extending a Film: 90 days from shipping date (cost $7.50)
60 days from most recent order date (cost $7.50 each time renewed)
No Time Restriction, kept indefinitely at the FamilySearch Center ($18.75)

NOTE: If you are requesting that a film/fiche be sent to the Mesa Arizona Large Multi-Stake (MesaFamilySearch Library), check first to see if it is already at the Library by clicking here.

Also, check to make sure the Family History Library Catalog in Salt Lake does not have a digital copy online. Select "Film numbers" in the Search box, enter the film number in the For box and click Search.
